The World This Week From Mennies

The US and Donald/Syria/ Brexit/ independence. 22Dec 2018

Well this is the first World this week, from Mennies for a while, due to a trip across the Atlantic together with not feeling great since I returned.

So, where do I start, well how about on the other side of the pond and oor Donald. Definitely never a dull moment with Donald who, at the moment is trying to hold the country to ransom by shutting down government until he gets his way with a massive expenditure on his border wall that Mexico was supposed to be paying for. Unfortunately ,it was only in his deranged mind, and of course Mexico told him where to go, in between rolling about the floor with laughter. Someone had the brilliant idea of starting a go-fund me, money gathering initiative which raised a few dollars., Sad that people would even think of trying to raise money in this way for a wall when there are veterans sleeping rough on the streets of the cities of America.

A bit of advice for Donald. We had a similar situation regarding a wall in Scotland and like America we also had an invading, foreign power who sought to conquer us. It was the Romans, now the Romans were a pretty warmongering people who came to the southern shores of these islands in the early days of the Christian era. They conquered the celtic tribes in what is now called England and moved north into Caledonia ( what is now called Scotland) building Hadrian’s wall around 22 CE ( Christian era) which stretched across the whole country. About 20 years later they built another wall in what is now called Scotland and called it Antonine’s wall to keep the Scots ( Caledonians) from killing them. Neither wall worked and eventually the invaders went home and the walls were used to build houses. So Donald, why not just build the houses now and be a real hero, instead of a prat? That is your way out.

Ok so just when you think daft Donald is about to implode, he does something sensible. He decides to withdraw US forces from Syria where they have been acting as a terrorist unit for the last few years. No doubt trying to ease the list of felonies mounting up against him by removing war crimes from the list.

This is good for Syria, as it cuts down on the amount of terrorist groups operating within their borders but not good for the Kurds who the Americans have been supposedly supporting in their fight with ISIS. Now let me explain. America has actually been supporting ISIS as they are against the Syrian government, but they also gave support to the Kurds who are fighting ISIS. Yes, sounds crazy but it is true. Now, the Kurds are also fighting for a separate state from Turkey, so their association with the US kind of prevented the Turks from all out war against them. So, the net result of the action in withdrawing his terrorists from Syria is that he has screwed the Kurds.

Ok so on this side of the Atlantic, Brexit, where the hell do I start?

What an awful, awful mess the Tories have gotten us in to. Firstly, by allowing a completely unnecessary referendum, followed by the most incompetent management of a negotiation in the history of the planet. Over the last couple of weeks, we have had a virtual circus of incompetence in Westminster, making the UK the laughing stock of the world.

This has brought us to the edge of the Abyss, with the prospect of a no deal Brexit, which, in reality was actually what the leave voters voted for., incredible but there you have it.

We have had a vote of no confidence in the prime minister, by her own party. We have had the government defeated three times in the one day, one of the times on contempt of parliament, in the first time in history. We have had the government cancel the debate on the final Brexit deal because it looked sure they would be defeated on that as well

We have been through all of that and still the government stands, and only through the utter and sheer incompetence of Jeremy Corbyn, the so-called leader of the opposition. The reason being of course that there is not a cigarette paper-width between the labour position and the Tories. When I say Labour, I am referring to the leader, Corbin whose leave position is at odds with the majority of his party. So here we are with a shade over twelve weeks until we plunge into the abyss that is Brexit and no one at the top have a clue what to do.

There is only two sensible things to do, either cancel Brexit or have another referendum on it.

As for the independence question, I can only say that if you are wondering how we managed to get to this place without declaring either UDI or a referendum on independence then please read the blogs I have been writing on the subject over the last 4 years, because I have been predicting exactly where we are, and that is the very best opportunity to be campaigning for another yes vote spoiled because of two things, an abysmal lack of preparation and Nicola Sturgeon, who would rather spend her time trying to save the UK than getting on with her day job which is attaining independence for Scotland. Honestly her failure to grasp the many opportunities presented or prepare for a referendum has been shocking. Angus McNeil has been the only one with a pair of balls to put his head over the parapet and tell the truth. I wish I had a pound for every time one of her sheeple acolytes have said to me “Nicola has a cleaver plan” Well she has not or never has had a cleaver plan or any other kind of plan except saving the UK from England’s stupidity and that is not the job that the people of Scotland gave her.

The SNP needs to get rid of Nicola, get out of the bunker they have been in since the last independence referendum and fight for Scotland. No battle was ever won from the inside of a bunker. You prepare, arm your troops, bring your enemy out on to a field of your choice and utterly destroy them or fall in the process. If you shy away from the battle because you might lose, then you have already lost.

I do not know one of my fellow Scots that would not rather die on their feet, than live on their knees.

Get out of that fucking corner you have been cowering in for the last four years SNP and get on with the job in hand or history will condemn you.
